Abstract: Aim. This research aimed to study the morphogenesis of Brassica oleracea L. as a result of optimization of the light regime during its cultivation under different fluorescent films. To correct solar radiation, stabilized and unstabilized fluorescent films with various photophysical characteristics were used during the experiment. StatSoft Statistica 6.0 software was used for statistical processing of the experimental results. Results. The level of photosynthetic pigment content per unit leaf area of cabbage plants, structural organization of mesophyll, and functional activity of photosynthetic tissues and organs were determined. Conclusions. The dependence of morphogenesis of Brassica oleracea L. plants on the action of red light of different intensities obtained by luminophore luminescence, radiation in the UV, and total photosynthetic active radiation (PAR) was established. The highest dry biomass of the cabbage plant was recorded when using a light regime characterized by a reduction of UV and stable radiation in the red region, namely, under fluorescent films of F-15, F-16, F-13, and F-10 grades. Scientific novelty. The optimum light regime of fluorescent film for efficiency of the morphogenesis mechanism using the example of white head cabbage was established experimentally.

#13-agr Peculiarities of man-made pollution of agrophytocenoses

Abstract: Aim. This article aimed to reveal the peculiarities of the pollution of agrophytocenoses. Methods. The primary markers of plant and land pollution were Ni, Pb, Sn, Co, Cr, Zr, Zn, Cu, and Mn contents. Analytical data processing was carried out using MATLAB R2007b, Statistica for Windows, and Microsoft Excel 2003 software packages, and the method of variance analysis. Results. A botanical description of 17 vegetation representatives of agrophytocenoses was created. Conclusions. Empirical research found that the content of pollutants in plants varies significantly, depending on the ecological and chemical properties of the soil. Thus, under man-made conditions, heavy metals become the determining factor of the chemical structure of plants whose families’ selective characteristics lead to their accumulation. Scientific novelty. The peculiarities of high man-made pollution of agrophytocenoses by heavy metals were determined experimentally.

This study aimed to identify efficient approaches to agrotechnical soil tillage and determine significant markers for assessing the level of its environmental sustainability by experiment. Methods. The dynamics of adaptability and yields of potatoes, wheat, and perennial grass were studied by applying different modifications of tillage to the studied soil plots, using a moldboard plow without organic topdressing, peat-manure topdressing (PMT), or subsurface tillage with PMT application. Results. The ecological and geochemical properties of soil resulting from different agrotechnical tillage methods were assessed. Based on the microbiological analysis of the level of interrelations in the "soil-plant" system, the basic indicators of the rhizospheric effect level and the most significant markers of microbiological soil stability were determined. Conclusions. The primary indicators of soil stability are those of soil biodiversity. Scientific novelty. The system of soil environmental sustainability markers in agrotechnical tillage was experimentally determined.

#11-agr Modeling the growth process of woody species at the pre-generative and generative development stages

Abstract: Aim. This study aimed to improve the methodology for assessing the growth and development of woody species by modeling their growth stages and borders and the duration of these stages. A regression model was built to determine the types (short-term, long-term) and subtypes of transitions between the growth stages, and their graphic model was developed. A retrospective analysis of the initial samples was carried out, and growth patterns depending on the development stages were established using the proposed model. Using the example of French cembra pine forests, the duration of ontogenesis stages and liminal points of transition to the next stage, corresponding to the age of the woody species, were determined empirically. Conclusions. It was established that positive growth trends of woody species at the pre-generative stage, and unsustainable short-term negative trends changing into positive ones, are prerequisites for cembra pine development and its transition into the next ontogenetic stage. A steady negative trend creates a high probability of species death. During the generative stage of development, growth stabilizes. Otherwise, this indicates long-term changes in external factors or a progressive reduction of growth processes. Scientific novelty. A methodical approach to assessing and predicting the growth and development of woody species, based on the synthesis of tree-ring and statistical methods, is proposed.

#9-agr Optimization of forest soil mineralization degree in the agroecosystem

This article aimed to experimentally substantiate the optimization of intensity and structure of potash fertilizers for forest soils to increase their fertility and adaptive properties of plants. The organic and mineral compositions of the soil were constantly assessed by observation using standard methods during the experiment. Results. The direct proportion of the diversity and content of soil microorganisms on the combination of the use of mineral fertilizers was established and substantiated. Conclusions. Under conditions of long-term exploitation of gray forest soils in the absence of fertilization, there is a deficit in the concentration of mineral substances (nutrients) in plants. This, in turn, reduces the level of agricultural yield. The micro-plot experiment testified to the subordinate relationship between the degree and variations of soil mineralization and its ecological-agrochemical properties. Scientific novelty. The optimal level of intensity and balanced composition of potash fertilizers in agrocenosis have a positive impact on the content of exchangeable cations in soil, biological properties of soil fungi, the general background of soil microbiocenosis, actinomycetes, and population of prokaryotes; these findings were determined empirically.

#8-agr Assessment of ulmification intensity in oligotrophic peat soils

Abstract: Aim. This study aimed to assess the ulmification intensity of oligotrophic peat soils for peat-forming vegetation species. Methods. Three species of sphagnum mosses, five species of subshrubs, and five species [...] Load More of grasses growing on the eastern part territory of the Danube-Dniester and Danube-Sava interfluves and within the Eastern-Serbian mountains were used as source material for the experiments. Results. Indicators of loss in weight of plant matter, ash content changes, and carbon and nitrogen losses in the initial samples of peat-forming vegetation residues were determined. The experimental results indicate that during the decomposition process, nitrogen immobilization mainly occurs during the first year, with maximum decomposition rate and constant carbon accumulation in oligotrophic peat soils. The ulmification intensity of the studied types of the source material was determined based on the decomposition rate. Conclusions. It was found that ulmification is most intense among sphagnum mosses (except S. angustifolium), which have the lowest decomposition rate. M. trifoliate and R. chamaemorus grasses, due to their high decomposition rate, are characterized by inert ulmification. Subshrubs with an average decomposition rate occupy intermediate positions. Scientific novelty. Peculiarities of ulmification in oligotrophic peat soils were determined, which may serve as a prognostic tool for modeling the ulmification intensity of peat-forming vegetation.

#7-agr Retrospective analysis of the species diversity of plants used for landscaping

Abstract: Aim. This study aimed to investigate the species diversity of woody plants used for landscaping in the territory of Leipzig. Methods. The study was based on a retrospective and comparative analysis of data obtained throughout 2019–2021, followed by updates provided to the lists of woody plant assortments used throughout 2017–2018 and 2020–2021. Intracity [...] Load More landscaping sites within four administrative districts of the city of Leipzig were investigated. Results. A retrospective assessment of the species diversity of woody plants and a forecast of possible future changes in the assortment were carried out. The assessment was based on determining the incidence of plants in the context of families, species, forms, varieties, life forms, origin, nature of use, and habitats of natural growth. The retrospective and comparative analysis results show that the assortment of woody plants used for the city landscaping represents 135 species, forms, and varieties, which belong to 57 genera and 25 families, reflecting the diversity inherent in other cities. In the context of habitats of natural growth, the Eurasian species is dominant in city landscaping. Conclusions. The species diversity of woody plants used for landscaping in Leipzig has been affected by the lack of an established landscaping practice with ornamental plants, the predominance of local flora plants, and assortment expansion due to bushes. Scientific novelty. This study revealed regularities in the distribution dynamics of woody plants, which are the basis for determining promising directions for breeding aimed at landscaping urban areas.

Abstract: Aim. This study aimed to determine the geographical features and species traits of thermoregulation in small rodents of the vole subfamily. Methods. The study objects were [...] Load More northern red-backed, grey-sided, and narrow-skulled voles, tundra voles, and Siberian and hoofed lemmings inhabiting the Danube, Sava, and Velika Morava River Basins in Serbia. Results. The characteristics of metabolic rate, chemical thermoregulation, and thermal insulation properties of small rodents’ pelage were determined. It was established that under the living conditions in a narrower spectrum of annual ambient temperatures, an isolation type of adaptation characterized by a low intensity of chemical thermoregulation and high thermal insulation properties of the rodents’ pelage, increased their ability to accumulate endogenous energy reserves, as demonstrated in the case of Siberian and hoofed lemmings, tundra voles, and grey-sided voles. A type of metabolic adaptation was identified in small rodents living in conditions with a wide annual range of ambient temperatures. According to this type, the response to changes in the temperature regime relates to a change in the intensity of chemical thermoregulation and the size of internal organs, which allow homeostasis to be maintained under stressed temperature conditions. Conclusion. The main adaptation responses of small rodents of the vole subfamily to changes in temperature regimes are isolation and metabolic response prioritized by the climatic conditions of the rodents’ habitat. Scientific novelty. The geographical features and species traits of adaptation of small rodents to the changes in the temperature regimes were determined empirically; this contributes to the development of applied aspects of mammalogy.

The study was based on 16 collection samples of vegetable soybean varieties from Germany, Canada, France, Sweden, and Japan, which acted as starting material for the experiments implemented in 2019–2021 in Northern Germany. We simulated the production of functional dairy products and soybean germs, and determined the main morphological, biochemical, and economic characteristics for these varieties, given the soil and climatic characteristics of the region under study. The distinguishing features were a short vegetation period and low fertility level of sod-podzolic soils. We then carried out a comparative assessment of the characteristics of vegetable varieties with the characteristics of existing oil-bearing soybean varieties. Conclusions. The study presents the main characteristics of vegetable varieties of soybeans, justifying their use for functional food production. Scientific novelty. We proposed methods of breeding optimization on developing new soybean varieties for functional food production with appropriate agronomic and biological characteristics.

#2-agr Modeling the stability level of agro-grey soil

Abstract: Aim. In this article, we attempt to model the stability of agro-grey soil by identifying the relationship between its buffering and agrochemical properties. Methods. The following indicators were calculated to determine the level of soil stability: buffering capacity to acidification, absorbed bases, relative potassium activity, potential potassium buffering, phosphorus concentration level, desorption capacity, and potential phosphate buffering. We determined the level of humus content based on Tyurin's methods of assessing the agrochemical value, soil structure, capacity, and buffering concerning acid-base indices. A thermodynamic assessment of the phosphate soil quality was carried out using the method of phosphate sorption isotherms. We also carried out a prediction of the potassium quality of agro-grey soil using correlation and regression analysis, during which the relationship between humus and potassium activity was established. We determined the buffering capacity to acidifying of soil based on the potentiometric method. Results. We calculated the necessary content of humus and exchangeable potassium in the soil to increase soil fertility. Conclusions. The results show the dependence of buffering capacity to acidification on the content of absorbed bases of calcium, magnesium, and different types of acidity in agro-grey soil. Scientific novelty. We developed a model of the agrochemical stability of agro-grey heavy loamy silty soil in the context of three levels: low, medium, and high.
