#15 Motivational methodology for teaching a foreign language to schoolchildren

Abstract: The research relevance arises from the need to provide a foreign language educational process in the main school with a teaching methodology aimed to increase the students’ motivation. The methodological basis of the [...] Load More study includes the provisions of the competence-based, communicative-cognitive, socio-cultural, socio-cognitive, affective, personality-oriented, and personality and activity-based approaches in teaching foreign languages. The theoretical framework of the study is based on theories of education and personality development, teaching foreign languages, intercultural communication, basic categories of theory and methods of teaching foreign languages, and theories and methods of forming foreign language competence and communicative competence. Interactive services, Microsoft Teams platforms, health-saving, information and communication, and gaming technologies, criteria-based assessment, functional literacy, CLIL, mnemonics techniques, and various forms of lessons were used. A methodology for teaching a foreign language was proposed, which was assumed from the logic of affective, communicative-cognitive, competence-based, personality-oriented, and sociocultural approaches; was based on the principles of learning (individualization, communicative orientation, systematicity, durability, audiovisual clarity, continuous consolidation of the material covered and the principle of focusing on solving a communicative task) and targeted on increasing students’ motivation in the educational process; and was implemented considering students’ individual characteristics.

#12 International cooperation as a means of forming a common educational space for engineering universities (study of experiences in countries)

Abstract: One of the important links in achieving success in the development of friendly relations between Russia and Vietnam is cooperation in the field of higher education, in particular engineering. Despite the significant scientific elaboration of issues in this area, there are no systematic studies on the pedagogical modeling of international cooperation [...] Load More between Russian and Vietnamese universities in terms of the internationalization of higher education and the formation of a common educational space of engineering universities. In this regard, the research purpose is to develop a structural and functional model for the formation of a common educational space of engineering universities using the example of Russia and Vietnam, to identify and substantiate the organizational and pedagogical conditions for its implementation. The methodological basis of the study was based on systemic and activity-based approaches. The theoretical framework of the study was developed on scientific works dealing with the internationalization of education as a factor in improving its quality; works dedicated to the network interaction of educational organizations and modeling and designing educational systems; as well as the concept of development of engineering education. In the study, methods, both theoretical (analysis of literary sources on the problem under study, generalization of innovative pedagogical experience, comparison, synthesis, forecasting, and modeling), and empirical ones (studying the experience of implementing international academic cooperation: the case of Russian universities; observation; survey; and conversation) were applied; as well as methods of statistical data processing, systematization, and generalization of the data obtained. In the study, an analysis of the possibilities of universities in Russia and Vietnam was made to form a common educational space for engineering universities (FCESEU) from these countries; a structural-functional model of FCESEU was developed as in the case of these countries; the prerequisites for the development of international cooperation in engineering education were identified using their example; the content of the management activities of the proposed model subjects were substantiated, depending on the industrial enterprises’ requirements; the regional involvement of engineering universities in Russia and Vietnam as one of the organizational and pedagogical conditions for the implementation of the proposed model was evidence-based; a set of information, methodological, and regulatory support for international cooperation in engineering education in Russia and Vietnam was developed, as well as a series of author's manuals. Scientific novelty: the concept of "common educational space of engineering universities" was clarified; a number of prerequisites for the development of international cooperation in engineering education in Russia and Vietnam was identified and substantiated; a structural and functional model for the formation of a common educational space for engineering universities was developed and tested using the example of Russia and Vietnam; the organizational and pedagogical conditions for the implementation of the model for the formation of a common educational space of engineering universities was determined as in the case of Russia and Vietnam. Due to the current growth of the trend of using the global information network for the development of the entire education system, there is a need to study the organization of educational interaction in the “man-machine” system, which ensures the educational productivity, and the self-development of the subject and the development of the object of labor. However, the insufficient development of this issue in psychological and pedagogical science, in particular the conditions that contribute to the formation of students’ productive interaction with educational Internet resources considering an ergonomic approach, determined the reserach purpose: to theoretically substantiate and empirically test the organizational and pedagogical, and psychological and pedagogical conditions for the formation of student’s productive interaction with the educational Internet resource. The methodological basis of the study was: a systematic approach to solving the problems of cognition of human psychology and comprehensive and interdisciplinary approaches to the study of its nature; a cognitive approach, involving the general process of information exchange between a person and the environment; and informational and ergonomic approaches. In the study, the following theoretical methods were used: the study of legal documents and scientific literature, systematization and interpretation of facts, analysis and synthesis, modeling, abstraction method, extrapolation. The empirical methods applied in the research are: survey, psychological and pedagogical experiment, comparison, and method of statistical processing of experimental results. The research results are as follows: theoretical ideas about the impact of informatization on the educational process in general and on the formation of a student’s productive interaction with an educational Internet resource in particular, about the possibilities of using ergonomics for these purposes, the peculiarities of student’s perception of educational information on a computer screen were supplemented and expanded; the criteria-diagnostic apparatus was enriched with a set of monitoring tools for the organization of the student's interaction with the educational Internet resource; the theory of e-learning and distance learning technologies was developed. The organizational, psychological, and pedagogical conditions for the formation of a productive interaction between a student and an educational Internet resource identified in the research can be widely implemented in educational organizations of various levels, as well as used in the design of professional retraining programs and advanced training programs for educators. The research novelty is as follows: organizational and psychological-pedagogical aspects of informatization were revealed and analyzed; the main features of the levels of the physical environment were identified; it was found that when interacting with educational content on the screen, the student primarily pays attention to the text, and not to the images, and when searching for an answer to a question and during remembering reading, the student mainly concentrates on the text in the screen F-zone; it was proved that the strategies for visual processing of educational information differ between natural sciences and humanities students; monitoring was developed to assess the productivity of the formed interaction of the student with the educational Internet resource.

#10 Development of Teachers’ Psychological and Pedagogical Competencies in the System of Inclusive Education

This necessitates a scientific and theoretical substantiation and practical solution [...] Load More for working out of organizational and pedagogical conditions for the development of teachers’ psychological and pedagogical competencies (TPPC) working in inclusive professional educational organizations (IPEO). In this regard, the research purpose is to identify the organizational and pedagogical conditions for the development and self-development of the TPPC in IPEO to substantiate approaches to the development of self-educational programs. The study is based on methodological provisions: systemic, competence-based, and personality-oriented approaches. The theoretical basis involves the works on the organizational, resource, and psychological-pedagogical foundations of training and the quality of education. The work was carried out using theoretical (study and analysis of scientific and pedagogical literature) and empirical (testing, survey, conversation, teachers’ reflection on self-assessment of the level of development of professional competencies, analysis of the process and result of experimental activity) methods. The research results supplement the theory of additional vocational education based on the idea of teachers’ two-level advanced training: the structure of the TPPC in IPEO was theoretically substantiated; criteria for the TPPC formation were proposed; a personality-oriented two-level program for the development of TPPC in the system of inclusive education was elaborated and substantiated; the technology of creating individual programs for self-development of teachers’ professional competencies was presented; the effectiveness of combining teachers’ corporate training with their permanent self-development and the use of individual personal programs was proven; the essence and content of the concepts “teachers’ psychological and pedagogical competencies”, “information-educational environment of an inclusive educational organization”, “reflexive approach to self-development”, “individual self-development program”, “personally oriented self-educational activity of teachers” was revealed. Scientific novelty of the research is that the concept of “information-educational environment of an inclusive professional educational organization” was clarified; professionally significant requirements necessary for teachers to work in an inclusive professional educational environment were identified; the components of the TPPC IPEO were defined in the context of the teacher’s professional standard; the use of the principle of the priority of learning in obtaining knowledge in teachers’ independent activities was verified; the organizational and pedagogical conditions for the development of TPPC IPEO were scientifically substantiated and experimentally confirmed; a universal two-level program for the development and self-development of the TPPC IPEO was developed; the criteria, indicators, and levels of development of the TPPC working in IPEO were proposed.

The study used a set of methods: theoretical methods (analysis of sources on a research problem, structuring ideas, approaches, [...] Load More and facts, qualitative analysis of pedagogical practice and documents, pedagogical modeling); generalization of scientific data; empirical methods (questionnaire, pedagogical experiment, and observation); statistical methods for processing the experiment results (Pearson’s criterion); retrospective analysis and generalization of pedagogical theory and practice; generalization and systematization of scientific facts; survey to identify the level of formation of professional and pedagogical skills, the influence of acting skills on the quality of teacher’s performance in the university of a creative profile, his personal experience in theatrical activity, judgments about the proximity of pedagogical and acting activities. Criteria were proposed that contribute to monitoring the development of professional and pedagogical skills of a teacher in the university of a creative profile through theater pedagogy. A structural-functional model was designed and implemented that contributes to the effective formation of teacher’s professional and pedagogical skills in the university of a creative profile through theater pedagogy; diagnostic tools were developed, including criteria and indicators for upgrading professional and pedagogical skills as a holistic personal education. The results obtained make a certain contribution to the methods and techniques for the development of teacher’s professional and pedagogical skills in the university of a creative profile, to the theory of theater pedagogy as a means of developing and improving the teachers’ professional skills. They can be used in advanced training courses for teachers of higher and additional professional education in the context of developing their creative potential, and in the work with gifted children and youth. The created diagnostic tools can be used to develop the professional and pedagogical skills of teachers through the theater pedagogy technologies.

The goal is to theoretically substantiate, develop, and test a model for the formation and development of mathematical creativity in high school students when they are taught elements of the theory of special numbers. In the study, methods of empirical analysis were used (observation, questioning, polling, conversations, testing, analysis of high school students’ tests and creative works); as well as theoretical methods (analysis, synthesis, classification, analogy, modeling, generalization, analysis of psychological-pedagogical, scientific-methodical, and mathematical literature); pedagogical experiment, qualitative and quantitative analysis of its results in terms of the methods of mathematical statistics. Based on the analysis of philosophical, psychological, scientific-pedagogical, educational and methodological literature, the essence of the concept of “high school students’ mathematical creativity” was clarified, the students’ creative qualities (personal and cognitive) were identified and structured, and the theoretical foundations of the model for the formation and development of high school students’ mathematical creativity were determined. The use of various methods, forms, and means of problem-oriented and development education in the organization of educational activities, primarily a multi-level system of mathematical problems, contributes to the formation of students’ creative qualities (personal and cognitive), and the ability and readiness for continuous self-education, development, and personal growth.

#5 Development of students’ academic mobility based on a cross-cultural approach

The methodological basis of the study involves the main provisions of the pedagogical methodology, the history of pedagogy, and the history of education; theoretical studies of phenomena and processes in the pedagogy of higher education: a systematic approach; a cross-cultural approach; a competence approach; a personality-oriented approach; and an interdisciplinary approach. In the study, the following theoretical framework is used: retrospective analysis and synthesis, comparison, generalization, modeling, design, forecasting, etc. The empirical methods applied in this research are: observation, conversation, interviews, survey, testing, the method of expert assessments, the method of generalization of independent features, pedagogical experiment, and methods of mathematical statistics. A model for the development of academic mobility of students of a pedagogical university centered on a cross-cultural approach was conceptually substantiated; the pedagogical conditions for the concept implementation, the pedagogical patterns for the formation of the readiness for the future teacher’s personality involvement in the academic mobility process, and the principles for the development of pedagogical university students’ academic mobility based on a cross-cultural approach were revealed; the idea of a cross-cultural approach was substantiated and expanded by specifying the features of the “cross-cultural educational environment” concept; the conceptual apparatus was supplemented with the introduced interpretations of the concepts of “mobile competence”, “adaptive competence”; a mechanism for implementing the technology for the development of pedagogical university students’ academic mobility considering a cross-cultural approach was developed; criteria, indicators, and levels of readiness of the future teacher for academic mobility were proposed. The model for the development of students’ academic mobility based on a cross-cultural approach can be adapted to the conditions of secondary vocational pedagogical education, and the proposed diagnostic tool can be applied in different types of educational institutions. The research novelty is the substantiation of the need for the development of academic mobility; revealing the importance of integration of systemic, culturological, interdisciplinary, axiological, and competence-based approaches with the leading role of the cross-cultural approach for the development of academic mobility; elaboration of the methodological foundations of the concept of “development of pedagogical university students’ academic mobility based on a cross-cultural approach”; the construction of a model of its development including a new element in the structure of the teacher’s competence – “mobile competence”; working out a technology for the development of pedagogical university students’ academic mobility centered on a cross-cultural approach, characterized by the complexity of measures covering various areas of activity in teachers’ training.

#1 Psychological dynamics of students’ learning motivation during the learning process

Abstract: This article aims to systematize the theoretical foundations and approaches to the study of learning motivation in the field of psychology in order to identify the dynamics of students’ learning motivation as well as the factors that determine it. To achieve the research goals and complete the tasks set, methods and techniques that have previously proven [...] Load More effective in psycho-pedagogical practice, additional psychodiagnostic tools, theoretical analysis of psychological and pedagogical scientific literature, comparative analysis, observation, survey, psychodiagnostic testing, and ascertaining experiments were all used. The primary processing of the gathered data was performed using Microsoft Excel. Further processing of the data was performed using the Statistica 10 package. In particular, the calculation of the normality of the distribution (Kolmogorov-Smirnov test), correlation analyses (Pearson’s and Spearman’s correlation), analysis of the comparison of the averages for two dependent samples (Student's t-test), comparison of the medians for two dependent samples (Wilcoxon test), comparison of the averages for two independent samples (Student's t-test), and comparison of the medians for two independent samples (Mann-Whitney U test) were performed. A regression analysis was also used to determine the predictors of the intrinsic and extrinsic orientation of students’ learning motivation. On the basis of the theoretical analysis and the results of the empirical research, it was established that the learning motivation of higher-education students is a complex and polymotivated construct in which internal and external orientations as well as amotivation can be distinguished. The theoretical foundations of the factors that influence the orientation dynamics of students’ learning motivation during the higher-education learning process were determined. The intrapersonal factors include students’ sense-life orientations and basic personality needs, while the pedagogical factors include teachers’ pedagogical activity style and pedagogical communication peculiarities. The nonlinear nature of the orientation dynamics and structure of the learning motivation of students on different courses were also established. In addition, the hypothetical-theoretical model and scheme of the dynamics-related factors behind students’ learning motivation orientation during the process of learning were developed.

Currently, there is insufficient use of pedagogical design technologies in the system of education. The purpose of this study was to substantiate effective pedagogical technologies for the development of ethno-cultural competencies in the system of secondary vocational education. Using the content analysis method, the pedagogical definition of ethno-cultural educational technologies and their functional purpose in the conditions of secondary vocational education were revealed. Analysis of recent academic literature provided a theoretical interpretation of the fundamental tasks of ethno-cultural instruction in the secondary vocational education system. Analysis of the current state of ethno-cultural pedagogical technologies in the education system, particularly in colleges, was presented. The conclusion was that in current secondary vocational education, the active use of ethno-cultural educational technologies is an integral part of the formation and preservation of regional culture. It was demonstrated by the deductive analysis method that ethno-cultural technologies in the secondary vocational education system are effective in the formation of art, folk art, and craft skills. The system of criteria for evaluating the level of ethno-cultural competencies was developed by the constructive analysis method. In this experiment, various ethno-cultural pedagogical technologies were introduced at the College of Technology and Design, and competence levels were assessed before and after. The most effective pedagogical technologies and techniques, in promoting the development of ethno-cultural competencies, were those that resolved problems in teaching methods and were based on an interactive model of future professional activity. These results have value as they will be useful in improving the effectiveness of the instructional process in the education system. This may serve as a basis for younger generations to assimilate the cultural heritage and national identity of their ancestors.

The purpose of this study was to develop a methodological approach to assessing the effectiveness of the functioning of schools, considering the identification of the factors of their effectiveness. Based on an unbalanced panel of data on school performance indicators for the 2015–2019 period, a comparative characteristic of the performance of commercial and public schools was carried out according to the average value of those performance levels. The formalization method helped explain the content of the indicator of competition as a leading factor in assessing the effectiveness of schools with balancing the indicator and size. The competition indicator within the framework of this study intended to reflect the qualitative parameters of the interaction between the performance of the studied schools and the level of their competitiveness in the national educational system. In addition, a system of school effectiveness indicators was introduced that characterized the type and policy of the school and socio-economic indicators of their position. Empirically, based on a multivariate panel regression model with random effects, a model for assessing efficiency factors was developed for the resulting indicator of efficiency: a student’s test scores in mathematics. This made it possible to assess the nature and degree of influence of efficiency factors in general, and differentiate depending on the category of the school, be it state, non-profit or commercial, as well as on the school’s socio-economic state. With the help of stochastic frontier analysis, a model for evaluating the effectiveness schools was developed based on deterministic performance factors, and an empirical analysis of the studied schools was carried out. This approach made it possible to counteract the statement about significant volatility in the level of school efficiency, determined using regression analysis. The results obtained made it possible to reveal relationship patterns between the efficiency factors of the functioning of schools, depending on their type. These results can be used by government bodies in developing strategic directions for increasing the efficiency of school education and the redistribution of funds between schools. They can also serve as a reference source for parents of children when choosing a school.

Correspondingly, the purpose of this study was to empirically substantiate the effectiveness of pedagogical practices in the development of cognitive competencies in students as a factor in increasing the professionalism of future physicians. The analysis of recent relevant academic literature and a logical examination allowed the author to corroborate the characteristic features and fundamental problems typifying the training of future physicians during their initial period of study at universities. The importance of developing personal subjective characteristics within the professional competence of future doctors was also verified. A deductive analysis helped the author put forth a structural–logical algorithm for the use of such effective pedagogical technologies in honing the personal qualities of medical students. The process involved an examination of specific situations, discussions, and work in small groups. The pedagogical experiment confirmed the effectiveness of the structural–logical algorithm used to refine the cognitive competencies of medical students. A total of 465 first-year medical students participated in the experiment (experimental group), and another 40 were recruited as the control group. Lecturers teaching these students the “Psychology and Pedagogy” discipline acted as experts in assessing the results of the pedagogical experiment. Through a descriptive method, a system of fundamental cognitive qualities necessary to achieve a higher level of professionalism in future medical practice was formed and grounded. These qualities were used as criteria for evaluating the effectiveness of proposed pedagogical technologies. Expert assessment was carried out at the beginning and at the end of the academic year after students underwent educational practice in medical institutions. The results obtained are of practical importance and can be used to improve the efficiency of the educational process in medical universities. They will also be useful in the work of medical practitioners for the prevention of mental maladjustment and professional deformation of the personality of doctors working in conditions of prolonged and intense stress.
